"The deterioration seems to be coming from the receipts side while the Treasury also blamed higher interest payments on government debt caused by synchronisation of coupon dates, " said James Barty, the chief U . K . economist at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell.

"Spending will grow at about the pace of inflation, and there'll be efforts ( to limit spending ) made by ministries, and, on the receipts side, taxes will be stable and all this will guarantee that we meet the 3 percent deficit goal, " the minister said.
